If you really want to see bears at an affordable price, consider coming to Haines. The best time to come to Haines is early in the morning when you have the best chance of seeing bears – or late in the day, but during the peak times, you can see bears nearly any time of day when they are feeding on spawning salmon.

 

We'll either pick you up at your cruise ship, B&B or Hotel and take you on a van tour to Chilkoot Lake & River where the brown bears hang out to feed on the spawning salmon coming up the river.

 

Although we can't guarantee wildlife (after all that's what makes it wild) we can tell you that there are bears at the River & Lake with a great deal of regularity starting in August. We do see them in June and July, but once August hits, they are much more visible. At times, we have viewed as many as 15!

 

You'll also have an opportunity to see this gorgeous spot along Lutak Inlet where you'll learn about the Tlingit Native Heritage, view wildlife and see a bit of Alaska where Alaskans go to to fish, bear watch and relax. We'll make all the arrangements and provide all transportation for you. You'll even get a quick tour of Ft. Seward.
